Dutch consultancy IX Wind has been selected by an undisclosed developer for analysing and planning O&M costs and strategies for an offshore wind project in Japan. The company will use its O&M simulation software SOMOS7.
IX Wind is focused on due diligence and techno-e economic consultancy. The company developed the SOMOS7 (Strategic Operation and Maintenance Optimization Simulation) software to provide insight in the challenges and complexities in achieving the optimal O&M strategy, which is of vital importance for determining the profitability of the investment in wind energy. The O&M simulation model is used for developing the best O&M strategies as well as negotiations of contracts.
IX Wind has already used the software on various projects in Asia and Europe such as the Taiwanese Formosa 1, the Belgian Sandbank and the German Dan Tysk offshore wind farms.
