Dutch consultancy and engineering company IX Wind has opened an office in Tokyo, Japan. It is a next step in further expanding its business in Asia-Pacific renewables market.
IX Wind is already working with Japanese companies, including Eurus Energy, Obayashi, and JWD. By opening an office the company aims to to expand its business, further building on its expertise in offshore wind, including owner’s engineer, due diligence, financial modelling, performance improvement, design, wind turbine inspections, amongst others. The company has appointed Rob van Veen, a Dutch/British national living in Tokyo, to run the office.
Earlier this year IX signed an MoU with TÜV SÜD for collaboration in Japan, focussed on the performance improvement and inspections of wind turbines, as well as full scope quality management and due diligence. In March, the company also announced it was selected for analysing and planning O&M costs and strategies for an offshore wind project in Japan.
IX Wind has, in addition to Japan, also been active in Taiwan, Korea and China.for several years now. In 2018, the company opened an office in Taipei, Taiwan.
