The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) has granted Fugro a geotechnical site investigation contract for the 700 MW Ten Noorden van de Waddeneilanden Wind Farm Zone. The activities will take place from February to May this year.
The Ten Noorden van de Waddeneilanden (North of the Wadden Islands) Wind Farm Zone is located 46 nautical miles off the north coast of the Netherlands and stretches 120 km2. The work comprises of a shallow subsurface investigation completed in Phase 1, followed by a borehole drilling programme, and standard and advanced laboratory testing, in Phase 2. The final deliverable will be a data package which can be used to prepare a detailed integrated geological and geotechnical soil model, on which wind farm developers will base future tenders.
Fugro was awarded a similar contract for the Hollandse Kust (west) Offshore Wind Farm Zone in February last year and has also performed these activities for the Borssele, Hollandse Kust noord and zuid zones.
